The displays were excellent, but it would have been helpful to have a designated route through the different 'eras' with some simple arrows. The coffee was not impressive, but overall, the museum is definitely worth a visit.

After living in Shrewsbury for 4 years, I had the chance to visit the museum 4 months ago. It was a wonderful experience, with a variety of historical artifacts from different time periods on exhibit. The best part was that entry was free and the museum was easily reachable.

My first time in town and I decided to check out the Museum and Art Gallery. Housed in a charming old building that has been given a modern twist, we began our visit in the Roman exhibition. The informative panels really brought the exhibits to life. Afterwards, we enjoyed a light lunch in the cafe and vowed to return soon to explore more of the museum.

We highly recommend a visit to this place. There are numerous rooms to explore, each filled with a wealth of information on Shrewsbury's history over the centuries, as well as archaeology, geology, fossils, and industrial history. The building is well-maintained and upholds its usual high standards. For elderly and disabled visitors, there is a convenient lift available so there is no need to struggle with stairs. The café offers a tempting selection of cakes, with the apple muffins being particularly delicious. And the best part? Entry is free!
